This
AL series of automatic level features a waterproof (JIS class 6) and
nitrogen filled objective lens compartment which prevents moisture
condensation on the lenses. The AL 240, 24 power, features a short (12
inch) focus distance. The AL-320S features dual speed focus and an
enclosed glass horizontal circle.
A
special model, the AL-320P (available USA only), has all the features of
the AL-320 plus dual speed focus.

Telescope:
Erect
image with an analectic optical system. The resulting image is sharp and
has high contrast, a traditional quality of PENTAX optics. Easy
aiming with the open gun sight (AL-240 & 270) or optical collimator
(AL-320S, 320P & 320) locates the target quickly and places it well
within the field of view.
Automatic
Compensator:
Precise compensator, with special alloy ribbon, which provides extremely
stable survey results even under unfavorable conditions such as
vibration. The image is stabilized by a strong magnetic field but is not
effected by any surrounding magnetic force.
Horizontal
Circle:
All models, except the
AL-320S, have a graduated horizontal circle with graduation marks every
degree. There are also
index marks at every 90° for convenient right angles. The
metal circle is enclosed for protection of the precise graduations.
Horizontal
Circle (320S):
The AL-320S has a precision glass circle which is graduated every
10 minutes. The circle is
read through a 18x microscope for angle estimation down to 1 minute.
Dual
Speed Focusing: The
AL-320S and the AL-320P have regular speed focusing plus an extra-fine
focusing speed. Sharp
object focus can be attained in less time with this system.
Optical
Micrometer: The
SM4 micrometer set (SM1 + PC7) can be used with the AL-320, AL-320P and
the AL-320S. The micrometer
is available in three different graduations:
Inch (SM4i), foot (SM4f) and metric (SM4m).
Setting
Up: Can
be mounted on flat or domed head tripods and have quick acting leveling
screws for fast and easy setup.
Short
Focus:
A level rod or target can be focused from only 12 inches with the
AL-240 or AL-270. The
AL-320S, AL-320P and AL-320 focus to only 20 inches.
Tight jobs are no problem at all.
Color:
The
top of the level is bright orange for high visibility on the job site.
